You can try mineral spirits.I would not bother cleaning the brushes,though.If you want to use them later with the oil-based poly, you should put the brushes inside the plastic bag, wrap it tight and place the bag into the cold place(freezer would be a perfect spot).Do not put the back inside the fridge: all your food will smell like poly…

    Mineral spirits will do the trick. Its quick, easy and cheap. Just put a little on a rag and scrub. Or, if its a lot of paint, fill an old coffee can 1/3 full with mineral spirits and soak the brushes in there overnight.
