I had carpet floors and ripped it off. its has plywood now and I plan to have eng. wood installed. I want to know if gluing it will create any problems as I think using nails , staples, is not recommended for the thickness of wood I am using ( 3/8 inch ).
So does gluing create problems like squeaking etc.
Also if its glued is it difficult to remove a certain area if its damaged in the future.
( the room is above my basement ).
I am planning on installing a hardwood floor and have a few questions on installations. I am considering purchasing Lauzon hardwood which is out of Quebec Canada (Red Oak Natural). Has anyone had experience with this brand of flooring and are they good? How do I stagger the floor boards? When laying the wood should the grain be in the same direction and how should I lay out the long pieces and short pieces? How far should I be from the wall? I heard it is important to give the wood some room to expand and contract and you shouldn’t lay it right up against the wall. For solid wood should I be laying down felt paper. Thanks for the help!
I’m installing an engineered wood floor in a second floor bedroom. Currently has a plywood subfloor in fairly decent shape. However there are some voids and gaps in the subfloor. What product should be used to fill these areas? Would ceramic tile adhesive work? Do the gaps between plywood sheets (maybe 1/8″ gap) need to be taped and filled?
Thanks?
I’ve seen the laminate flooring that is an alternative to hardwood floor and I would like to get some put in. I have a square room just under 200 sq. feet that I will be putting it in.
My question is, how much should I be expecting to pay per foot for the installation? Also, are there any questions I should be asking my contractor when shopping?
