Is there any way to remedy this?

The people who lived in this house before need to be slapped for doing this. Underneath the linoleum and subfloor in my kitchen is some 100 year old maple flooring with lots of bird’s eye maple in it. I want to refinish it but I’m afraid the nail holes will be too much.
Good answers so far…much appreciated!

I’m installing an engineered wood floor in a second floor bedroom. Currently has a plywood subfloor in fairly decent shape. However there are some voids and gaps in the subfloor. What product should be used to fill these areas? Would ceramic tile adhesive work? Do the gaps between plywood sheets (maybe 1/8″ gap) need to be taped and filled?

Thanks?

Installing an engineered wood floor. Plywood subfloor is warped. Do I put the underlayment first and then roof shingles to fill the deeps or first shingles and then underlayment?
In other words, is underlayment protecting the subfloor or the hardwood?
I’m not positive that using roof shingles is the right way, but I’ve found it online as an alternative to floor leveling compound.
Thanks.

I am installing 3/4″ hardwood floors. My subfloor is particle board and should not be used for hardwood installation. I should put a new plywood subfloor in. But the particle board runs underneath the walls, and cannot be completely removed. I could cut it out at the closest joist to the wall. Is there any recommendations on an overlayment of plywood, or a procedure to replace the subfloor?
